WINE TASTING - Marchesi Alfieri

14.09.2024

Marchesi Alfieri

History

The castle and estate have always been tied to a family history. In the Middle Ages the castle belonged to the Solaro, Guelph family of merchants and bankers. Since 1616, the Alfieri, Asti noble family, have lived in the residence and run the land and vineyards.

Company

Marchesi Alfieri is a historic wine cellar located in the castle of San Martino Alfieri hill of Piedmont between Asti and Alba. The three sisters Emanuela, Antonella and Giovanna San Martino di San Germano have been running the company since 1983 and Mario Olivero has been the winemaker and director since 1999. Twenty hectares of vineyards produce 100,000 bottles per year.

Hospitality

At the foot of the castle a carefully restored seventeenth century village houses a small base consisting of seven rooms and a farmhouse in the historic park. For wine lovers tourists visit the park, concluding with a guided tasting of the most representative wines in the baroque orangery and the ancient cellars. The knowledge of quality wines, the landscape, culture, historical houses mix with the taste experience, the local knowledge and the tradition that produces them.
